Carrie, die auf Jobsuche war, hat einen Job in einer Anwaltskanzlei in Manhattan gefunden. Am Abend ihres ersten Arbeitstages sitzen Doug und seine Freunde in der Garage, als plötzlich ein Jaguar vor die Einfahrt fährt. Die Karosserie ist schnell ein Eyecatcher bei den Jungs. Die große Verwunderung tritt ein, als Carrie aus dem Wagen aussteigt. Doug stellt sie zur Rede. Sie erzählt ihm, dass ihr neuer Boss, Even, sie nach Hause gebracht hat. Schnell ergreift Doug die Eifersucht. Er versucht nun alles daran herauszufinden, ob Even etwas für Carrie empfindet. Er stattet ihm einen Besuch im Büro ab. Dort findet er allerdings heraus, dass Even Carries Ehe respektiert. Doch entsetzt muss Doug feststellen, dass Carrie sich verändert hat. Sie möchte zu einem Cello-Konzert gehen, obwohl am gleichen Abend ein Softballspiel steigt. Doug entschließt sich, ein netter Ehemann zu sein, und kommt auch zu dem Konzert. this is SUCH a fantastic version of “Die Walküre” – what a brilliant cast! Brilliantly staged, performed, interpreted, eeeeverything. Fantastic fantastic FANTASTIC. This is probably my favorite of the Ring cycle, too…
thank you so much for posting this! I only wish I could have seen this performance live…but then I think everything in life would have been a letdown from there ;D

James Morris is awesome in this role. i bought this performance on Ebay, I love it… I agree completely that his chemistry with Brehens is incredible.

@llamasaresmelly This version of Walkure is fabulous. I will admit that I have not seen many other versions, but between James Morris, Jessye Norman, Hildegard Behrens, and Christa Ludwig, this production is just fabulous!
what language is he singing in? Must be hard to do words when you’re scooping for the notes so much.

@RVP57 i disagree. i thought it was great. you cant keep making the same valkyrie season after season. to incorporate that new technology was great and it was well done.
As you can see from my user-name, I’m very partial to the role of Wotan. I just saw the new Met Walkure – quite amazing. But James Morris was the best-sung and best-acted Wotan I ever saw or heard. He was great with all of his Brunnhilde’s, but the chemistry between Morris and Behrens was a real artistic Everest. The shattered look he has on his face when he kisses Brunnhilde for the last time is an unforgetable moment. And those magestic phrases just pour out of him.

@RVP57 Having just scene Part 2, I can tell you that the new Walkure is not a horror.
This was the best Ring ever. Beautiful to see and hear. Now the Met has a horror of a production. Shame.
This is the aria I intend to use to accompany my suicide.

Brunhilde must have had to cover for Wotan a lot if she is that happy about being rendered human.
